Email the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology: Special Services Unit

SSU History

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology established the SSU in 1990 to provide, on a commercial basis, a range of specialised meteorological and related systems and services to both the international and domestic markets.

The SSU have completed projects and provided services to clients across Australia and Bangladesh, East Timor, Fiji, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nauru, New Caledonia, new Zealand, Papua and New Guinea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, The Philippines, Turkey, Venezuela and Vietnam.

Most overseas projects have been of an integrated meteorological systems or technical monitoring nature and undertaken in association with both Australian and foreign companies.
